Reasons to Drink 4/13 - 4/19
This week, no good or bad reasons. Who the hell in El Paso ever needs a reason to drink anyway? The guy who usually buys the beer is on vacation, so I only had enough for a quart. But, here we go.
Rep. Silvestre Reyes’ re-election campaign apparently accepted donations from Digital Fusion (a tech company), and ironically the company received a $2.6 gazillion contract to do some work for Fort Bliss. Taxpayers for Common Sense says something smells funny.

A group of Americans are going to go to Mexico, then cross back over illegally. We at the avocadoan often do this just for kicks.
Could this be the early plannings for the much awaited Born in East L.A. sequel? Don’t see anything on IMDB.

Mayor Cook will be at the Bowie Spring carnival this weekend. One of the major attractions will be an obstacle course, and no it’s not the one the Americans will be attempting to cross.

Nick T. Valenzuela says in El Paso you vote Hispanic, or you suck. According to him it is very tragic if we do not vote for “our own kind” and that El Pasoans do not have “faith in their own race”. When did we go back in time? Sadly, I’ve heard stupidity like this from many El Pasoans.

Oh crap, I’m almost out of beer. Nothing but vavas left, but somebody deserves them this week.
With all the buzz surrounding Stefon Jackson’s harboring allegations Jay Koester tried to find something blog worthy from Stefon’s myspace profile. I, myself, did not see any correlation with the allegations and the way Stefon addresses himself and his peers on “his” myspace page or the content within. Almost everybody that commented on the blog felt the same way. Koester then went on to compare some commercial/promotional websites to his myspace profile. This looks like the classic case of over-reaching.

Just bought a case, vato. Let’s go.
A politician awarding contracts to company who contributed to his campaign? How political! Next thing you’re going to tell me is that 50 Cent put out a mixtape dissing Fat Joe and that some El Pasoans consider Paul “Make It Rain” Foster the devil for using his own money to revitalize Downtown. Wait, that already happened.
I hope the 2 “protesters” who will be crossing the border illegally get caught. When they ask why they’re being arrested, our boys in green can say, “because it’s illegal, cabron.” Or maybe they’ll just get in with some bad people from J-town.
Mayor Cook: get ready for other city high schools to beg you to pay them a visit. Maybe this is just a way of saying, “Sorry I wanted to push you out of your neighborhood without telling you…Now get the f— out before I eminent domain your brown ass.”
Since Nick V. has a need to be led by brown people, he should move to Juarez. Dude, are you serious?
I had no idea what Koester was getting at by blogging about Stefon Jackson’s MySpace page. NOTE: FOLLOWING LANGUAGE MAY BE OFFENSIVE. Seriously, most of us niggaz here at the Avocadoan love talking like that! Like the Notorious B.I.G. said: “Money, hoes & clothes, all a nigga knows.” We niggaz also love gambling and having a good time. Why ya crackaz and beanerz be bugging about ‘dis ish? Bitches, please.
Also, how you gon’ compare DJ to AI or Paul Pierce? Dem last 2 niggaz is brands, products. Also, they can get fined by their teams AND the NBA for using language like Stefon did. The NBA even has a dress code for players now. Your comparison is like comparing the writing at the “El Paso Times” to the writing on this website. I done used the words “nigga” and “douchebag” countless times, and ain’t nobody gon’ say shit. If yo’ ass puled some shit like that, readers would be all up in yo’ grill complaining about how you hurt their feeling with such language. In other words, the scrutiny that Stefon Jackson is under pales in comparison to the scrutiny an NBA player is under. I am sure if he were to end up in the NBA, that material might get taken down. Kna’mean, son?
Also, what’s up with PDNG wasting money so some consulting firm could tell them that El Paso suffers from a brain rain? Thank you, captain obvious! Better them than the City. At least PDNG has the cash flow to waste money like that.
