Brick & Mortar, Thursday nights
We walked in after work, about 6pm. If you’ve never been to B&M (Brick & Mortar), the first thing you’ll notice is the great design and details the owners took in the aesthetics of the bar. The bottles run up the wall where a very tall piped and welded walkway lead bartenders to them.
Well, let’s begin. The bartender had a hard time making a black and tan for my friend, he actually did not have the correct items to make it. Otherwise, I believe we were pretty pleased with the service. At this point there were not many customers. I was impressed with the beers they had on tap, including Pyramid’s Hefe Weizen. Not many places in town have it on tap.
The service started to decline once the live jazz band started playing, and once the night went on. They were short staffed and the bartender, our primary server, was now busy with everyone asking for a drink. Also, the wine list became limited as they were running out of certain bottles by this time.
The food is a little on the expensive side, I believe the fries (they call them fries, but they’re more like potato wedges) were $11. See pictures below. I will recommend the spinach pizza, which is made from scratch. The best spinach pizza in El Paso is made at B&M.
In conclusion, B&M received 3.5/5 Avocadoes rating. The food and drinks were pricey, but with the smooth ambiance and live jazz music, you can’t go wrong. Take a date, go with some friends, check out happy hour. You’ll enjoy it. Advice: keep track of your tab. A group of 5 of us ended up with a tab around $200. A couple of beers can run you $12.
