Reasons to Drink! 4/27-5/03
Don’t ask me how I got beer this early on a Sunday. The vieja is going to be mad at me for missing church.
Here’s to Jorge Baginski & Jorge Valenzuela, who were both ordered by the City to stop construction on their houses after their soon-to-be neighbors complained about their designs. While Baginski was given the go-ahead by City Council, Valenzuela had to wait for Mayor Cook to overturn Council’s 5-2 decision to stop construction. Guess he realized that the City almost has as many lawsuits as the Catholic church and does not need another. Speculators are also saying that allowing Baginski but not Valenzuela to keep building is evidence of Council’s pro-Poland bias.
Ironically, Reps. Ortega & Castro voted to allow Mr. Valenzuela to continue construction given that the City dropped the ball. The vote keeps the 2 reps in the running for Council’s Couple That Should Have Been but Never Was.
Speaking of picking up enemies, the El Paso Apartment Owners Association is joining the hot trend of suing the City over the Stormwater fee.
Have a round for the former Miners who signed deals with the NFL this week!
Finally, while this is not local, we’re going to pour out a 40 for Eight Belles, the filly who was euthanized on the track after the Kentucky Derby.
