Street Fight: 1914 Lounge vs. EPPD
There has been talk around town that sometime last weekend, an off-duty EPPD officer was at 1914 Lounge with an intoxicated female; some say that the off-duty officer was even acting aggressively toward the female throughout the night. At some point in the evening, the bouncers of 1914 Lounge decided the off-duty officer and his companion were liabilities and asked them to leave the club. The story goes that the bouncers escorted the off-duty officer and his companion to their vehicle. After seating the female in the car, the off-duty officer charged at the bouncers. In the midst of defending themselves, undercover officers appeared on the scene to see what looked like a group of bouncers assaulting one of their own.
The bouncers ended up getting arrested and there is talk that the owner of 1914 Lounge was also taken in, though no arrest record seems to exist for him.
Rumor has it that the off-duty officer placed the call to his colleague while placing the female in the car.

Dam, charging bouncers? The only guy that I know who could get away with that is Jason Bourne, or Gary Warner (pretty much the same person). It has been at least 2 weeks in a row that I’ve seen brawls in the Union Plaza district on the weekend in the evening. EPPD and the bar owners need to step up to make the area safer for their patrons, for the ones who aren’t throwing hay makers.

One thing is obvious: the EPPD ought to limit their drinking to their ON-duty hours.
