Avocadoan.com in Disarray After Getting Whipped in Local Poll
“I’m still trying to take it in…Man, last place.”
Those were some of the few words a staffer of Avocadoan.com was able to mutter after the El Paso Times released its Best of the Border results for best blogger. “I just can’t fuckin’ believe it. This must be how Dee Margo felt after losing to Moody. The first thought that goes through your head is, “I lost to THEM? Maybe my kid will come out with a piece saying that this site is too good for El Paso.” Taking first place in the poll was the Times’ own Roy Ortega. Second and third places also went to Times employees Joe “UTEP sucks” Muench and Jay Koester, respectively. “Yeah, how rigged does that look?” asked another staffer. “And if the top 3 spots weren’t enough, they ranked 3 of their other blogs in there, too. I thought losing the election for homecoming king back in high school was a rip-off, but this takes it to another level. What’s next, El Paso Media Group names Lisa D. best radio host in the city?”
As the dust settled, one senior writer had only one regret, maybe if we had timed the blow job story better, we would’ve been second-to-last. I’m not sure I want to live anymore.”
One criticism of Avocadoan.com has been a lack of consistency. “Yeah, we just write when we feel like it. It isn’t like we can come out with something EVERY day or EVERY week. We’re too busy doing other stuff, like getting ass.”
Avocadoan.com has also been criticized for keeping its writers anonymous. When asked if revealing an identity or identities might be an option now, one staffer replied, “We just got our asses handed to us; now there is no way in hell we’ll reveal any identities…Well, maybe if Melina offers an interview, but that’s it. Or Nichole Ayoub.”
